Our girls' recreational gymnastics classes cover fundamental to advanced skills, rotating through floor/trampoline, vault, uneven bars, and balance beam. Classes also include strength training, conditioning, and safety. We offer Levels 1 to 5/6/7, with skills detailed below, and emphasize proper progressions and techniques. Classes are 60-90 minutes per week, with pricing based on duration.

Each year, recreational Level 1-7 students can participate in the annual Class Meet, a "mock meet" where they showcase skills and routines in front of an audience and guest judges (including members of the Xquisite Gymnastics team0, offering a glimpse into competitive gymnastics.

 

New to X-Cel?

Girls in 1st grade and up who are new to X-Cel or haven't attended in the past 12 months will need an evaluation for level placement. Beginners enrolling in Level 1 do not need an evaluation. To schedule a free 10-15 minute evaluation, call us at 724-772-0055.

Once enrolled, level placement is based on instructor recommendations. For evaluated students or those with a level recommendation, visit the Parent Portal to check class availability or enroll.

Level 1 (60 Minutes)

No Evaluation Required
In Level 1, students will be mastering forward rolls, bridges and cartwheels on Floor Exercise. Emphasis will be made on body positions along with proper start and finishes along with safety drills for each new skill. Beginner Bar skills will include chin holds, front supports, glide swings and other upper body strengthening skills.

Level 2 (60 Minutes)

Evaluation or Instructor Recommendation Required
In Level 2, students will be mastering backward rolls, tip ups, back bends and kick overs. Emphasis will be made on body positions along with proper start and finishes along with safety drills for each new skill. Level two core bar skills will include casting, gliding along with many other upper body strengthening skills.

Level 3 (60 Minutes)

Evaluation or Instructor Recommendation Required
In Level 3, students will be mastering back bends, kickovers, round off and handstands. Emphasis will be made on body positions along with proper start and finishes along with safety drills for each new skill. Level three core bar skills will include horizontal casting, pullovers, gliding and swinging along with many other upper body strengthening skills.

Level 4 (75 Minutes)

Evaluation or Instructor Recommendation Required
In Level 4, students will be mastering back and front walkovers. They also will be introduced to the beginning drills for back handsprings. Emphasis will be made on body positions along with proper start and finishes along with safety drills for each new skill. Uneven Bar skills will include: Tap swings, back hip circles and conditioning skills to gain upper body strength.

Level 5/6/7 (90 Minutes)

Evaluation or Instructor Recommendation Required

In Level 5, students will be mastering back & front handsprings along with drills for front & back tucks. Emphasis will be made on body positions along with proper start and finishes along with safety drills for each new skill. Level five core bar skills will include kips, front hip circles and conditioning skills to gain upper body strength.

In Level 6, students will be mastering basic flipping forward and backwards. Emphasis will be made on body positions along with proper start and finishes along with safety drills for each new skill. Kipping and jumping to the high bar along with advanced conditioning skills will be focused on during this class.

In Level 7, students will be mastering twisting in a flipping skill. Emphasis will be made on body positions along with proper start and finishes along with safety drills for each new skill.  Kipping and flipping dismounts along with advanced conditioning skills will be focused on during this class.
